Uragirimono Project | SILENT HILL f Accessibility Mod By ON1XN

Public Test v0.5.0

You will probably understand the project name after playing the game.

Uragirimono is an accessibility mod designed to make SILENT HILL f playable for blind and visually impaired players while preserving as much of the original gameplay, exploration, combat, atmosphere, and challenge as reasonably possible. This is a Public Test, not a claim that every part of the game has been fully verified from beginning to end.

About SILENT HILL f

SILENT HILL f is a third-person psychological horror game developed by NeoBards Entertainment and published by KONAMI. Set in 1960s Japan, it follows Shimizu Hinako through the isolated town of Ebisugaoka as she explores, solves puzzles, fights grotesque creatures, and experiences a story heavily influenced by Japanese culture, beliefs, imagery, and social context.

The game combines exploration, puzzle solving, melee combat, psychological horror, and multiple endings. Some understanding of its Japanese setting and themes may help when interpreting the story.

Current Features

Uragirimono currently includes:

  • Screen-reader accessibility through NVDA.

  • 13-language support, following SILENT HILL f's selected text language, with English fallback.

  • Native keyboard support alongside controller controls. Keyboard bindings can be customized manually in SHf/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/Mods/SHfNativeWall/Uragirimono.ini; restart the game after editing.

  • Fully manual walk supported.

  • Accessible native game menus and UI. (Options, load / save, journal, inventory, collectibles, document / letter, interactable objects contain text and so on.)

  • Spoken menu navigation, selections, inventory information and item names.

  • Accessible Quick Use Item management.

  • Scanner for nearby objects, items, interactables, objectives and enemies.

  • Scanner category browsing and object selection.

  • Persistent object locking and position tracking.

  • Direction and distance reporting.

  • Player XYZ position reporting.

  • Objective and quest-hint accessibility.

  • Objective persistence even when no spatial XYZ target is available.

  • Automatic objective updates and progression tracking.

  • Spatial wall/navigation audio.

  • Open-space/navigation assistance.

  • Auto Walk toward selected targets.

  • Teleport assistance.

  • Automatic facing toward selected objects.

  • Remote interaction and pickup assistance.

  • Close-range interactable notification cue.

  • Enemy positional audio.

  • Enemy lock feedback.

  • Enemy HP reporting.

  • Incoming Attack audio warnings.

  • Player HP, stamina and sanity reporting.

  • Weapon selection and weapon durability reporting.

  • Accessible item and weapon shortcut feedback.

  • Story and progression assistance.

  • Puzzle preparation and bypass assistance.

  • Force Progress for progression blockers.

  • Automatic bypass support for certain chase sequences that are impractical to navigate without sight.

  • Uragirimono Menu with Story information and configurable accessibility sound cues.

  • Individual accessibility sound-cue enable/disable, volume and preview controls.

  • Automatic save backups when using potentially destructive progression assistance.

The intention is not to automate the entire game. Whenever practical, Uragirimono provides the information or navigation assistance necessary for the player to make their own decisions and play normally.

Download And Installation

Download the mod here: Uragirimono Project

Two packages are provided.

  1. Download the Uragirimono Bundled or Mod Only

  2. Open your SILENT HILL f installation directory.

  3. Find the folder containing SHf.exe.

  4. Extract or copy the contents of the ZIP directly into this folder.

  5. Start the game normally.

  6. Uragirimono should announce its name and version when loaded.

UE4SS Compatibility Note

Only the bundled release includes the known-working UE4SS development runtime v3.0.1-1140-gf58e8f84. Official stable UE4SS v3.0.1 is incompatible with this mod. The Mod Only package requires a compatible runtime; do not mix UE4SS versions.

Known Issues and Public Test Limitations

  • Subtitles: In SILENT HILL f Language Settings, set Show Subtitles: On and Show Speaker: On for subtitle accessibility to work normally.
  • After chase bypass: If enemy audio or audio from the previous quest continues playing, manually reload the resulting save/checkpoint to complete the transition.
  • Puzzle coverage: Some puzzle/content interactions are not yet fully accessibility-verified, especially Chapter 2 Torii Ema clues, Chapter 3 Field Maze and Rinko House scarecrow, Chapter 5 School / Letter to Shu, and Chapter 6 Rinko-area Fox-flip gates.
  • Auto Walk / Teleport: May fail when a target is extremely close, behind a locked door, unreachable, or Hinako is standing in an unsuitable position.
  • Remote Interact / Pick Up: Use with care. Some items may exist behind locked doors, puzzles, or other progression conditions. Picking them up remotely before they are normally obtainable may cause progression or save-state problems, and safe behavior is not guaranteed.
  • Chase bypasses: Some difficult chase sequences may be force-bypassed. Steam achievements related to bypassed sequences are not guaranteed.
  • Force Puzzle / Force Progress: Cannot be guaranteed to bypass every puzzle or story state. Use carefully. Uragirimono creates save backups for potentially destructive progression operations, but keeping your own important saves is recommended. Steam achievements are not guaranteed when these bypasses are used.
  • Falling hazards: There are no comprehensive warnings for every ledge, hole, or fall hazard. Move carefully.
  • Quick Use Items: The interface is usable, but some spoken navigation or selection behavior may sound unusual.
  • Game / UE4SS compatibility: Game or UE4SS updates may break functionality. Uragirimono was developed using a newer UE4SS development build, so compatibility with every stable UE4SS or SILENT HILL f version cannot be guaranteed.

Public Test Feedback

This release exists specifically to discover situations that cannot be fully reproduced by one playthrough.

If you encounter, please report what happened and, when possible, include the Uragirimono diagnostic logs from the same gameplay session.

The most useful reports explain where you were, what you were trying to do, what Uragirimono reported, and what happened instead.

For Puzzle / Story Progress reports, include the chapter/location, puzzle or current Objective/Hint, difficulty, required items you had, and whether you tried normal play, Prepare, or Force Progress. Describe the state before and after, including missing rewards, doors, objectives or control. Keep a save/checkpoint and attach the same-session logs before restarting, if possible.

Logs are in SHf/Binaries/Win64/ue4ss/: include UE4SS.log, Mods/SHfNativeWall/SHfNativeWall.log, and available logs from Mods/SHfAccessibility/Scripts/. Send reports through the Discord linked below. Automatic progression backups are in Uragirimono Save Backups beside SHf.exe, or %LOCALAPPDATA%/SHf/Uragirimono Save Backups if the game folder is unwritable.
